Morning session (09:00-12:30) Flying a Kite Over the Pass- How Does it Sound? with Dr. Florian Dombois

Hear the sky make music. – And play along with it. – Listening through the string. We will go out together on the Gotthard Pass, between streets and lakes, with a "Triple Instrument": A special kite flewn on a piano wire, that is thread through a sounding instrument (http://worldwidewind.org). We will publicly rehearse our instrument, giving the wind between the North and the South of the Alps, between Urseren valley and Valle Leventina a voice. We observe the wind and the wind observes us. Interacting with the worldwide wind we can experience and question our relation to "Nature", to our surrounding that we do not control. We might exchange about the history of kites as political symbols and actors. We might speculate on the meaning of borders in relation to the wind. We might reflect on the movement of the kite flier and the movement of the wind, about the boundary layer between the geosphere and the atmosphere and our own inhabitation in this zone of transgression. Maybe we touch the field of Relational Architecture, and how we want to understand Architecture as more than building walls and forming rooms that keep the wind out. Or maybe our discussion will look at the culture of kites of thousands of years in Asia and how and why this art in Europe is assumed to be a toy for children and hobbyists. There is always more to say, and the wind will give us time to move our minds.

Evening discussion and
collective dinner (19:00-20:00)

Collective discussion about the outcome of the day and peer-to-peer feedback.
